Here is Olivia Vertigo's profile:
NAME: Olivia Vertigo
BORN: 1992
DESCRIPTION: Olivia has naturally got light brown hair and grey eyes, but she has a habit of dying her hair bright, outlandish shades and dressing flamboyantly. She is of average height, but often wears high heels.
DEPARTMENT AT BLOORS: Drama. Olivia is a brilliant actress and despite being a Junior, often gets leading roles in the school plays. Her best friend, Emma, makes most of her costumes for her.
ENDOWMENT: Olivia doesn't discover her endowment until the fourth book, but she is an illusionist descended from Guanhamara, the Red King's eldest daughter.
OTHER: Olivia is nicknamed Liv or Livvy.
Her mother is a famous film star, and her father a film director.
Olivia is very adventurous and nosy, and a complete drama queen at times. She is very conscious of her appearance, and gets angry if anyone insults her clothing or make-up choice, although she has been shown to take most insults in her stride.

Here is a character profile for my other favourite character, Emma Tolly.
NAME: Emma Tolly
BORN: 1992
PARENTS: Mostyn and Nancy Tolly
DESCRIPTION: Emma is slight and quiet, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She is calm and organized, and often the voice of reason in trouble.
DEPARTMENT AT BLOORS: Art. She is very good at it, and specialises in brilliant bird-drawings.
ENDOWMENT: Emma can fly. She can turn into any bird of her choice, real or imagined.
OTHER: Emma was hypnotised by Manfred Bloor when she was two. She was given to adoptive parents, the Moons, and renamed Emilia Moon.
She now lives with her aunt, Julia Ingledew, over the bookshop Ingledew's, by the cathedral.
Emma's best friend is Olivia Vertigo, but is very good friends with Charlie and all of the other 'good' endowed. She has a crush on Tancred Torsson.

Tancred's Profile

Here is a character profile for my favourite character, Tancred Torsson.
NAME: Tancred Torsson
BORN: assummedly 1991
DESCRIPTION: Tancred is tall, with spiky blond hair that sometimes crackles with electricity. He has startled, electric blue eyes, and a pale complexion.
DEPARTMENT AT BLOORS: Art, although he isn't that good at it.
ENDOWMENT: Tancred is a storm-bringer. His scandinavian ancestor was named after the thunder god, Thor. Tancred can bring rain, wind, thunder, lightning and snow.
OTHER: Tancred lives at Thunder House on the Heights, a wooded hill just outside the city.
His father, who we do not know the name of, is also a storm-bringer. They often have quarrels about small things, which result into huge storms.
He has a slight, implied crush on Emma Tolly.
Tancred has a very short temper and is very impatient. He finds it hard to take much from the Bloors, and is always getting into a temper because of Manfred's baiting.
He is best friends with Lysander Sage, and his nickname is Tanc.

Charlie's Profile

Here is a Character Profile for Charlie Bone:
NAME: Charlie Bone
BORN: 1992
PARENTS: Lyell and Amy Bone
DESCRIPTION: Charlie has dark, hedge-like hair and brown eyes. He has a slightly long face (according to cover illustrations) and is of an average height.
DEPARTMENT AT BLOORS: Music, and plays the trumpet, although he is not a musician. He was only placed in music because his father was.
ENDOWMENT: Charlie can travel into photographs and pictures. Through his father he is descended from the Red King, and through his mother, from Mathonwy, a welsh magician and friend of the red king.
OTHER: Charlie's father disappeared when charlie was two - the Bloors kept Lyell captive and hypnotised underthe name of Mr Pilgrim, until Charlie wakes him up at the end of the 5th book.

Midnight for Charlie Bone

Here is a rough summary of what happens in the 1st Charlie Bone book:

Charlie Bone is a 10yr old boy who discovers he can hear what goes on in photographs. His horrible great aunts, the Yewbeams, then send him off to a gloomy grey academy called 'Bloor's Academy', where he makes some new friends.....and enemies.

Charlie finds out that once, ten years ago, the Bloors stole a baby girl and put her under hypnosis. Her aunt (her parents now being dead) is looking for her, and Charlie and his friends Fidelio, Benjamin, and Olivia discover that she is an endowed girl at Bloor's called Emilia Moon. Her real name is Emma Tolly, and her inventor father, Dr Mostyn Tolly, left an invention which he hoped might awaken her.

They manage to wake her, and she goes off to live with her aunt, Julia Ingledew, who runs a bookshop called Ingledew's.

However, Emma's adopted family, the Moons, are not ready to let Emma go without a fight as the Bloors paid them a lot of money to look after her, but Charlie's Uncle Paton forces the Bloors to hand over Emma's adoption papers, and so Emma escapes the Bloors.

To top off the book, at the end Charlie learns of the Ruin Game, a game devised by the Bloors where the students have to go into the big ruins of the Red King's castle, and look for a medal - by night.

Charlie manages to get lost, as the Bloors had planned, and they send in the were-beast, Asa Pike, to finish Charlie off. Luckily for Charlie, Fidelio and Gabriel Silk, another of Charlie's friends, alert two of the other, more powerfully endowed; Tancred Torsson and Lysander Sage.

Gabriel, Tancred and Lysander rescue Charlie from the ruin, and the school has a big party at the end.
